The Watuaga County Long Term Recovery Group will bring the community together in Downtown Boone on September 27 for a day of activities to mark one year since Hurricane Helene forever changed our landscape and our lives.
"Rather than simply remembering loss, we’re choosing to cultivate what singer-songwriter and international speaker David LaMotte calls ‘deep hope’—hope that doesn’t ignore pain but transforms it into purposeful action."
This anniversary event grew from conversations within faith communities and recovery organizations about the need to process collective trauma while acknowledging strengths as we look to renewal. Participate in individual events throughout the day—all to take place in Downtown Boone.
Events are free and considered a gift to the community. David LaMotte’s keynote and his evening concert will be held in the Appalachian Theatre. The free tickets for both events can be reserved at the Appalachian Theatre of the High Country website.
