Governor’s Recovery Office for Western North Carolina Highlights Behavioral Health Resources for Helene Survivors

As western North Carolina passes the one-year mark after Hurricane Helene, the Governor’s Recovery Office for Western North Carolina (GROW NC) is highlighting behavioral health resources available to survivors in western North Carolina.  

“This one-year milestone can stir up many emotions as folks grapple with the toll that the storm and its aftermath have taken on them,” said Matt Calabria, Director of GROW NC. “But help is available. Hope4NC and Resources for Resilience offer free, confidential programs designed specifically for those struggling from Helene’s impact. We encourage everyone to take advantage of these resources and spread the word to others who may need help.”

Hope4NC

Hope4NC assists individuals experiencing stress, emotional fatigue, or a mental health crisis related to Hurricane Helene recovery. Trained crisis outreach workers are out in the community daily, and they are available to link survivors with resources that assist in recovery and rebuilding, help with disaster preparedness, and to offer emotional and educational support. They offer peer support groups and meet survivors where it’s most convenient, whether that’s their home, the library, church, or any other location. Resources for Resilience

In partnership with the North Carolina Department of Health & Human Services and Vaya Health, Resources For Resilience is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that offers weekly programming for western North Carolina residents affected by Hurricane Helene. These opportunities for learning and connection are ideal for first responders, healthcare workers, community volunteers, and anyone looking for tools to support their friends, neighbors, and loved ones.
