Very-low-income and low-income homeowners are eligible to apply for support for home repair through the USDA Single-Family Housing Rural Disaster Home Repair Grant Program. Homes must be owner-occupied and located within an eligible rural area. The maximum grant award is $32,420. Grant recipients must certify there is no duplication of benefits with other funding or awards. Contact a USDA home loan specialist in your area.

To qualify, your property must have been damaged in an authorized Presidential Disaster Declaration since 2022, such as Helene, and you must:

  • Be the homeowner and occupy the house (occupancy after repair can be authorized)
  • Have an adjusted household income within very-low-income or low-income limits

Applications are available year-round as long as funding is available and are processed in the order in which they are received. Learn more and apply.
